We have expanded our embroidery and software programs. We are offering the company sponsored Viking Software and Embroidery Club. Software club will have hands on lessons using your computer and dongle.  We will feature a topic from the 6d Embroidery system. We will have a printed lesson along with a webex recording made by one of our SVP Education Experts on the topic of software designing, embroidery, feet and hoop techniques. Every month we will have a new topic.  It will be fun and you’ll leave with the instructions to do the project at home or sign up and do the project in class with us.  You will need to register for the class.

Foot of the Month Quilt (Block 7)

In this series of classes we will go through the process of trying out various different feet and attachments for your Husqvarna Viking® sewing machine! We will meet on the last Saturday of each month and make a new block for this unique and beautiful quilt using numerous fun feet and accessories!

In June, we will be working on Block 7, this will have you creating this lovely wavy patterned block showcasing many of your decorative stitches depicted on the right! Be sure to stop by early to pick up your fabric requirements and your supplies!

American Girl® Isabelle Sewing Class

Bring along your American Girl® doll to join in the fun. Child must be accompanied by an adult. Trims and embellishments will be available but bring along anything special that you might like to add.

Class is $25 per session and space is limited.
Class will be held in the Joann’s classroom in the back of the

Sew Young Sew Fun–Tote Bag

Spend the summer with us learning how to sew by making lots of exciting projects that are fun to wear and use.  The classes are geared for young beginners, 10 years old and up.  Parents must sign a release form to leave their children with us.  Our classroom is small, so space is limited to six participants.  You may bring your own sewing machine if you have one, but it must be in good working order.    If not, we have a few classroom machines that are available for use.   The class is every Wednesday morning from June 4 through August 6 from 9:00 a.m. to noon.  The class fee for EACH class is $20.  Students provide their own supplies, too.  A supply list can be obtained for each class separately.  However, the Basic Sewing Kit that you will need to bring to each class includes:

  • Sharp fabric shears (bent handle) *
  • Water erasable marking pen * or chalk pencil
  • Pin cushion or Grabbit magnetic pin holder
  • Sewing pins (the ones with the big balled heads are easier to use)
  • Seam ripper*
  • 6” seam gauge (metal ruler with a slider)
  • 1 pkg. size 80 Universal needles*
  • Thimble to fit the middle finger
  • Point turner
  • Hand sewing needles
  • 1 large safety pin
  • Tape measure (60” size is good)
  • A container with a lid to store all of these (It can be a shoe box, a sewing box, or a basket.)  Please put your name on it or tie a ribbon on it so that you will know that it is yours.  All items in your box needs to be labeled with your name, also.

The third project will be a reversible tote. You will learn how to topstitch by making this project.  The supply list for this tote class is as follows:

  • 1 1/8 yd. of 54” wide fabric OR 1 ¼ yd. of 45” wide fabric for tote body and outer handle
  • 7/8 yd. 45” wide fabric for tote lining and inner handle
  • ¾ yd. light to medium weight quilt batting
  • 1¼ yd. of medium weight craft fusible interfacing
  • ¾” magnetic closure
  • Sewing machine*, all of its feet, accessories, foot control, and power cord if you are bringing your own machine
  • All-purpose sewing thread in a color to match your project
  • A bobbin filled with sewing thread for this project
  • Basic Sewing Kit

6D Embrodiery Express Design Wizard in Embrodiery Extra and Design Creator

In this class we will explore ways to edit and create your own designs from a background image using two different methods.
