American Girl Sewing Class

More Details to Follow

This class is geared for moms and daughters, grandmoms and granddaughters, aunts and nieces or any adult sewer with a younger sewer.  It is also open for those young at heart that love the American Girl experience.

The Class fee of $49.00 will include the class fee for two, a book, some sewing supplies and use of a sewing machine.

Other supplies may be needed.  As soon as we receive the kits, we will be able to let you know what additional supplies are needed.

Class is limited to 4 pairs.  Another class will be added if needed.

The first class will be from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.   A second class, if needed, will be from 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Join us for a special sewing class inspired by Isabelle™ and her story of creativity and spirit.

Bring your fashionable young designer (8+) and her doll too! Enjoy this special class where you will both learn how to make a cute fabric bracelet and how to use your sewing machine to creatively embellish items you may have at home.

Class includes a kit and use of a sewing machine if needed.

A adult is required to accompany the child. Please arrive 15 minute before class to allow time for you to set up. Anyone arriving late will be asked to reschedule. If you can not make the class please call ahead of time so we may give your slot to the next person on the waiting list. Our classes fill up quickly so please sign-up soon.

Viking Club-Foot Of The Month Quilt

This club is our monthly Foot Of The Month Club for 2014. Learn more about your Husqvarna Viking sewing machine and it’s many accessories! A great way to connect with fellow owners while growing your sewing skills, one block at a time!
Each month we will make a different block. When all twelve blocks are done, will be finish the quilt with quilting and binding.
Supply list vary from block to block.
This month we will work on Block 3 of the quilt.

Serger Basics 2 – Sept 22, 2014

This class is for Huskylock  S21 and S25 owners. It focuses on Chainstitch, Coverstitch, and 4 & 5 thread safety stitch.

This week’s featured project is a Jelly Roll quilt. This quilt top is possibly the the fastest quilt top you will ever make.
It uses a “jelly roll” of fabric, which is literally a roll of 2 1/2″ x 44″ strips of fabric. A roll usually has 20-40 strips.
This week we will add batting and backing and start to quilt.

6D/5D Embroidery (Xtra) Software

In this lesson learn to use Resize and Scale within the 6D™ Embroidery Software to create the look you want in your designs. In Resize mode change the size of the embroidery and retain constant density. In Scale mode change the size of the embroidery and retain constant stitch count. Gain an understanding of the difference and when to choose the option that best suits your project.

Service Project for Motts

Calling all Sewists who would like to come to the aid of Motts Children’s Hospital’s Loss Coordinator.

We’re asking people to join us on the First Tuesday afternoon of each month to make Preemie Quilts for Motts.  We have room for 10 sewists. We will be using JoAnn’s classroom (roomier). So dig into your stash for fabrics that will bring at least a wispy smile to the parents of these children.

If you are new to sewing and quilting, we have some basic patterns that work up in no time. You can get your feet wet with something small before moving on to larger projects.

If you work or are a very independent sewist, you can drop your quilt off to us; and we will get yours to Motts.

American Girl Inspired Kids Class

In this American Girl inspired class, kids age 8 and up can come in and learn how to embellish their denim skirts, with tulle, ribbon, and other trims.

You only need to bring in a denim skirt. This class is $49 and includes the kit.

Spacing is limited for this class so stop in and reserve your seat.

This class is an introduction to your new serger.  Learn the basic features of your machine including how to overlock and coverstitch.  Please bring your machine, accessories, machine owner’s manual, and 4 different colors of serger thread.

Sit ‘n’ Sew is just that, bring your machine, bring your project, bring lunch if you want and hang out with others with your same interests.  Spend the afternoon finishing up that unfinished project.  Share tips, hints, techniques and learn from each other.  This is   a “class,”  but   fun way to spend the day. Space is limited so please let us know if you will be attending.  As always, let us know if you can’t make it so we can let someone else come in your place.

Embroidery Club

This is a free class to take, you will do an embroidery using a wing needle using design card #199. We will be using design #5 in this class.  You can either the design card or you can download single designs using myembroideries.com.  When using myembroideries.com please put in 212 as the store number that you you deal with.  Please have all the supplies and fabric cut before you come to class.
