This is a fabulous time for you to work on a project! Bring your machine, a project and all necessary items to work on or complete your project. In this class it is you working on your project. Serger Club – Blouse
We will be making a blouse this month. This is a simple, pull over, short sleeved, blouse made with woven fabric. We want to make this out of a light weight woven fabric. Batiste is a great choice. However, if you are not sure of your size/fit, then I strongly suggest you purchase a light weight muslin to make the blouse the first time. I found two patterns that are the correct style: McCalls M6927 (style C without the underlining) and Simplicity 8523 (style A). In addition to these two patterns I have some Martha Pullen Blouse patterns for sale.
Supplies:
Husqvarna/Viking Serger set up for a 3 thread narrow edge.
4 cones of thread to match your fabric
Scissors/pins/thread snips/double eyed needle
one button, 8-10 mm
The amount of fabric needed is based on the size of your blouse
Please cut out your blouse before coming to class. Cut only the Front (on the fold) , Back (on the fold) and Sleeves. If you don’t know how to do this please contact Kim at the store.
Bring all your left over fabric to class

Quilt Club – Bordered Squares Table Runner
Come in and learn a fun way to make a scrappy table runner using a Layer Cake. For those not familiar with Layer Cakes, they are bundles of fabric pre-cut in 10″ squares. Normally you receive one or two of each print in a line of fabric or a theme of fabric. For instance my quilt is in Halloween fabric. If you don’t or can’t make a run to a Quilt store to pick up a Layer Cake, all is not lost, you can order them online or cut your own. The key here is that you want to have 10″ squares and you want a variety of fabrics without any repeats. This is a great way to clean out your stash of Fat Quarters.
For every 10″ square you start with, you will have one 8-1/2″ Bordered Square block when you are done. So if you only want to learn the technique, then bring a minimum of three 10″ squares to class.
Supplies:
Husqvarna Viking Sewing Machine
Twelve 10″ squares, varied in tones (light to dark), or a Layer Cake with at least this number of squares
Backing fabric 20″ by 54″
1/3 yard fabric for binding cut into four strips 2-1/2″ by the width of the fabric
Batting 20″ x 54″
Please bring a rotary cutting mat, rotary cutter and ruler
