Just for The Squeals

This cute quilt is one of four quilts in Abbey Lanes’ newest book, “Just 4”.  We’ll spend two Saturdays putting together the simple rail fence blocks in black and white. We will add orange bands to top and bottom and sew the word BOO to each band with a machine applique’ technique. In time you’ll have a 52″x64″ quilt for Halloween. It is required that you purchase the Book with the pattern. It is available at the store. The book has your supply list in it.

Viking Owner’s Class 2 Decorative Stitching

Decorative stitches, Wing needles, twin needles, applique’, etc.

Decorative Stitching–Viking Owner’s Class #2

Cost: If you purchased your machine at a Viking Sewing Gallery, the class is free. If not, there is a charge.

You have all of those fancy stitches on your new machine, but do you know how to use them?  We will teach you to applique’ and to program a stitch sequence that can be saved in the memory function of your machine.  You’ll even learn to do basic free motion quilting and some heirloom techniques with the twin needles and wing needles, if time permits!

Bring your sewing machine, foot control, power cord, all of the accessories that came with your machine, owner’s manual, scissors, two spools of 40 wt. rayon embroidery thread, extra 80/12 or 90/14 universal needles, a bobbin wound with bobbin thread, a twin needle, a wing needle, paper and pen for notes and your eye glasses (if you need them).   Embroidery machine owners do not need to bring the embroidery unit or hoops for this class.

There is limited seating so reserve your spot early.

In order for us to start class on time, please arrive 5-10 minutes before class is to begin to allow you to have time to set up.

If you signed up for this class but later find that you will be unable to attend, please let us know well in advance so that we can call a person on our waiting list.  If there are too few to sign up, we reserve the right to cancel the class.   Thank you.

This class will introduce you to the embroidery aspect of your Husqvarna Viking Designer Machine.   We will discuss stabilizers, needles, and threads that will help you achieve beautiful embroideries with your new machine.

We do not loan them out! • If the class has a cost, you must pay when you sign up.  Owner’s Classes are completely free when you purchase your machine at The Viking Sewing Gallery.  Our specialty classes do have a cost as well as some additional supplies that will vary with the class.  The fee must be paid when you enroll in the class.

In this class you will be embroidering star lace holiday adornments using Viking’s embroidery collection Christmas Lace II #265.  The beautiful star adornments are woven into a rhinestone studded trim and featured on a small glass candle holder.  We embroidered our stars using 40wt cotton for both the top and bobbin threads but rayon could look just as lovely.  We are going to use Dissolve A-Way Max stabilizer.  Don’t be surprised when you find yourself embroidering other designs in this collection to compliment an eloquent vase of roses and wine glass presentation for your holiday partying this season.

In this class you will be embroidering star lace holiday adornments using Viking’s embroidery collection Christmas Lace II #265.  The beautiful star adornments are woven into a rhinestone studded trim and featured on a small glass candle holder.  We embroidered our stars using 40wt cotton for both the top and bobbin threads but rayon could look just as lovely.  We are going to use Dissolve A-Way Max stabilizer.  Don’t be surprised when you find yourself embroidering other designs in this collection to compliment an eloquent vase of roses and wine glass presentation for your holiday partying this season.

  • Hoop:  One of the above listed.

  • Sensor Q Foot & Straight Stitch plate (if available).
  • Pre-wound bobbins from your selected thread.
  • Dissolve A-Way Max stabilizer.

 

FABRIC AND THREADS:

  • Cotton or rayon thread of your choice (be sure to pre-wind several bobbins from your selected thread).
  • Rhinestone or pearl trim no wider then 3/16 inch.
  • If you would like to attach the stars onto a strip of netting, you will need a piece of netting 1 ½ inch wide x the circumference of your chosen container plus 2 inches.

6D Premier owners ONLY September

Create your own designs using ExpressDesign Wizard in Extra and the Design Creator module.  Learn how to add color to a plain pictures in your Paint program.  The picture can then be saved and used to create a stitch file.  Lots of digitizing techniques.

6D – 6D Extra – 6D Premier September

Simple Steps is a tutorial with steps to follow allowing you to find a design, add another design, personalize it with letters, combine everything, save it and/or send it to your sewing machine via a USB Memory stick or Direct Cable.  This is a great class for new 6D owners or a good review if you have missed some classes.  Simple Steps will include a 1 page sheet with numbered steps.  We will also learn about Accelerator keys and how to use them.

We will do a large quilt block and learn how to split them if you do not have a Majestic Hoop.  You will be amazed at what you can do with the samples in your software.  We will also do placement of designs around ready make shirts.

The Motif Tab and Mini Designs will be featured this month.  Learn to use machine stitches (Motifs) to create an unlimited amount of designs.  MiniDesigns can be used with Encore and Endless to make frames or borders.  Add a nice saying and you have the beginning of an easy gift.

5D Pro Class September

The Family Tree Module will be featured this month.  If you are interested in Genealogy it is a great way to organize your family names and then be able to stitch out your information in many interesting ways.  It can also be used to make small way hangings with pictures, frames, etc.  Great as a wedding gift.

5D Quilt Design Creator – September

Quilt Design Inside the Lines.  Use Shapes, Multiply and Encore to create quilting for your 8″ X 8″ blocks.  Once you learn these techniques they can be used on any quilt blocks you have created.  Several new tips in this lesson.
