Are you ready to make something with your sewing machine? In this class you will make a table runner and a tote bag. Learn basic skills on easy projects to build your confidence. You should be familiar with threading your machine and winding a bobbin prior to class.

This is  a 2 session class. All sessions are required to be taken together. The second session is Monday August 5th, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm. Upon registration for the first session, you also register for the remaining session.

Serger Quilt

Do a quick baby sized quilt with “quilt as you go” serger piecing. Add a ruffle with a rolled edge finish to the quilt with your serger. Choose five flannel fabrics in your favorite color scheme.

“Foot” Pillow #2

Learn to use some of the additional accessory feet you can buy for your Viking sewing machine while creating a pillow.

Add yarns for texture to your fabric with the 3 hole yarn foot. Learn two methods of creating textured fabric – one uses Fabric Magic and  the other utilizes the roller foot. Explore the uses of the NEW circular attachment in class and add dimension with pintucks and a twin needle. See how easy it is to stich multiple lines of decorative stitching with the new decorative stitch foot.

“Foot” Pillow #1

 

 

 

Did you miss the foot quilt? Here’s your chance to learn about some of the Husqvarna Viking specialty feet  that you can add on to your foot collection.  Learn to make pintucks  with a twin needle, add applique with the open toe foot and create texture and interest with the 7 hole cord foot. The ribbon foot easily allows you to add dimension with strips of bias cut fabrics.

Serger Basic Owner’s Lesson part 2

 

This class is part 2 of your new owner’s classes for your serger. Learn to use the cover stitch functions on your serger.

Please note there is a part 1 class for Viking Serger models S21 and S 25. Part 1 will teach you the basic functions of your serger.

You MUST take part 1 of the serger class prior to part 2.

Embroidery Machine Owner’s Class

This is part 3 in your new Owner’s classes for your electronic machine with hooped embroidery capabilities. Machines included are Vikings Diamond, Ruby, Topaz 23/30 and H600E and Singer XL400.

What to bring to your owners class:

Your machine, embroidery unit, hoops, memory stick (the one that came with your machine),  Robison-Anton Embroidery thread, power cord, foot pedal, all accessories, manual, light colored spool of thread, paper and pen to take notes.

Please note: for H600E and Singer XL 400 models, you must bring a laptop with your machine software installed previously, so that you will be able to embroider in class. You will need your communication cable that came with your machine.

Are you feeling intimidated by your new sewing machine? Come to our Owners Class and make friends with your new sewing machine.

You will learn all the wonderful things your new machine can do for you, like making perfect buttonholes and easy blind hems. How to get a perfect 1/4″ seam for quilt piecing and more!

We will take the mystery out of tension settings and which needles to use for different kinds of fabrics.

Start thinking about where you want to put it. This class also features theMega Endless Hoop 260 x 150

This design can also be stitched in a 260 x 200 hoop.

 

The overall learning concept is aligning designs. People with Designer Diamond/deLuxes and Ruby deLuxes will hone their perfect positioning skills. Those with Topaz 20 and 30 will still be able to do this project. The matching part  is a little more labor intensive.

Learn all the amazing things your new computerized sewing machine can do!

Make buttonholes, do blind hems, learn which stitches to use for different fabrics and how to program patterns and lettering(if applicable).

Master the mystery of tension. When to change it and when to leave it alone!

For this class you will need your machine, foot control, power cord, all accessories, pastel colored thread and small sewing scissors.

Tablet Tote

Do you have a Kindle, IPad or other tablet device that needs a protective case? Come to our Tablet Tote class.

The tote has a zippered pocket with a snap or Velcro closure for the front flap and bias tape around all the edges.

Quick and easy, you should be able to go home with a finished project!

Owners Class: Embroidery Basics

Learn the proper way to hoop and which stabilizer to use for what kinds of projects. You will also learn how to get the perfect placement for your design.

You will need to bring your machine with the embroidery unit, a small hoop, embroidery foot, USB  with designs, stabilizer, small sewing scissors and the power cord.

On the first Saturday of every month, Karen will feature two different techniques for quilting your quilt.

The first session will be “Stitch in the Ditch” and “Echo Quilting”.

These are basic quilting techniques that are fun and easy to do.

Mechanical Machine Owners Class

This class is to teach all the wonderful things your new mechanical sewing machine can do for you.

You will learn threading, bobbin winding, blind hemming, making buttonholes and more.

You will learn how tension works and when to change it. More importantly, when NOT to change it.

You will need to bring your machine with all the accessories, power cord, foot control, pastel colored thread and small scissors.

Quilt Club “block of the month”

We will be making a different block each month, so come make one or make them all. Just bring a minimum of 3 different coordinating fabrics at least 8×10 each. These blocks would be a great way to use up some of those scraps this year!
