Using a purchased t-shirt, you will create lace to insert into the neckline.  These are gorgeous made up, and will make any plain-old t-shirt into a one-of-a-kind wardrobe item!

Stabilizer Event

Learn about stabilizer in this fun and informative event.  Taught in a lecture demo format, we discuss various types of stabilizer, when they are used, and we will demonstrate 8-10 example uses of stabilizer.  This is a very well received, and highly sought class, so sign up EARLY!

Thread Painting

Also called “free motion embroidery”, thread painting is creating designs on fabric using thread, your own ideas, and manual control of your fabric.  Learn the basic two stitches for thread painting in this class, and create a simple design as part of this class.   We will be practicing using the online materials of Nancy Prince.

Foot of the Month Quilt: Open Workshop

Learn how to use multiple Viking feet to accomplish a sampler quilt at the end of a rotating twelve months.  The finished quilt will be approximately 49″L x 40″W. We used six different fabrics.

Each block gives specific fabric, notions, feet, accessories and cutting requirements as well as instructions to make the block.   Note:  This will be a sewing class, not embroidery.

Free Motion Quilting: The Basics

Do you ever want to do your own decorative quilting on your completed quilt tops? You can, with a little instruction and a lot of practice! In this class, you will learn the basics in managing your free motion quilting – loops, handwriting, motifs.

This class is an introduction to your new Husqvarna Viking sewing machine.  You will learn the basic features of your machine from threading it, winding a bobbin to sewing a blind hem, seam overcasting and more! Please bring your machine, all accessories, power cord, foot control, machine user’s guide, machine sewing thread and scissors.

This class is for Husqvarna Viking models.

General Class Policy
• You are responsible for bringing your own machine, accessories, and sewing supplies to each class. We do not loan them out!
• If the class has a cost, you must pay when you sign up.  Owner’s Classes are completely free when you purchase your machine at The Viking Sewing Gallery.  Our specialty classes do have a cost as well as some additional supplies that will vary with the class.  The fee must be paid when you enroll in the class.  

Be courteous to your classmates and instructor:  Arrive early to class to set up. Class will begin promptly at the time shown on the calendar with no late arrivals.

Embroidery Basics–Viking Owner’s Class #3

The wonderful world of embroidery is now available to you with your new machine!  You will learn how to set it up for embroidery,  load a design onto the machine, determine the appropriate stabilizers, hoop the project, and  stitch out the design.

 

Please bring your sewing machine, the embroidery unit, foot control, power cord, all of the accessories and hoops that came with your machine, the USB stick that came with the machine, owner’s manual, scissors, 2-3 spools of 40 wt. rayon embroidery thread, size 75 embroidery needle or a 90 topstitch needle, a bobbin wound with bobbin thread, paper and pen for notes and your eye glasses (if you need them).

 

In order for us to start class on time, please arrive 5-10 minutes before class is to begin to allow you to have time to set up.

 

If you find that you will be unable to attend, please let us know well in advance so that we can call a person on our waiting list to take your place.  If there are too few to sign up, we reserve the right to cancel the class.   Also, please be kind to those with fragrance sensitivity by not wearing colognes and perfumes.  Thank you.

Embroidery Club

This month’s Embroidery Club is free, our gift to you. We know it’s a busy month, but we would love to have you stop by! The free design this month is from the new collection, Artful Smocking #268 . You can come in and use one of our beautiful new machines or just stop by to see the design being stitched out and get the design to take home (bring your USB stick) and a copy of the project (a cute retro styled apron) .The project would make a lovely last minute gift.

Supply list for the project is as follows:   200×200 Quilter’s Hoop, Endless Embroidery Hoop II, Fabric Majic, 1 yard decorator fabric for apron, 3/4 yard fabric for pocket , waistband and sash, Embroidery thread, bobbin thread and Embroider needles, size 90.

The scheduled club times are December 10, 6-8:30 PM or December 13, 10-12 PM. During these times the design will be running, but if you cannot make either time, come by any afternoon and get your free design and project dirsctions.

Foot of the Month Quilt 2013 (Block 1)
