Viking Foot Club

Using the pin tucking foot (there are 3 of them) and the multi line foot, we will make a “new” piece of fabric with texture and dimension, then turn it into a cover for notebook or sketch book (for all those brilliant ideas that will come your way this year), if you would like.

Supply list: machine with new size 80 Universal or Microtex needle, and or twin 2.0 mm needle, assorted decorative threads (keep the selection small, contrast or complimentary to save time and confusion), cover fabric (solid is preferred; size depends on size of notebook, about 3/8 yard), about 3/8 yard lining if making project, Fusible No Show Mesh (if you do not have any in your “stash” you can get a piece large enough for the project for $2 just to try it out), rotary cutter or shears, and sewing supplies.

Directions for the cover will be provided, and we will attempt to finish in class (it will depend on how much time is spent playing with feet and stitches).

Class fee is $5, plus $2 optional for stabilizer

This class is for the new Viking “Gems” and will compliment or go beyond your owners class. This month we will be learning/ playing with the “alt” feature and tapering stitches. The machines included in this class for this month would be Sapphire 875Q, 930, and 960Q, Topaz 30 and 50, Ruby and Diamond. This would be a great way to learn more about your new machine, or review features on the machine you have loved for awhile!

Service Project for Motts

Calling all Sewists who would like to come to the aid of Motts Children’s Hospital’s Loss Coordinator.

We’re asking people to join us on the First Tuesday afternoon of each month to make Preemie Quilts for Motts.  We have room for 10 sewists. We will be using JoAnn’s classroom (roomier). So dig into your stash for fabrics that will bring at least a wispy smile to the parents of these children. Chances are there will be a warming in your heart that push the chill of this winter away.

If you work or are a very independent sewist, you can drop your quilt off to us; and we will get yours to Motts.

Soup Cozy

This is a quick and easy reversible holder for your microwave soup bowls.  Lift by the corners to keep your fingers cool.  It is also great to keep your hands warm when eating ice cream!

 

Supply list:

Your soup bowl, 2-12 inch squares of coordinating fabric for each bowl.  3 – 12 inch squares of warm and natural batting per bowl, 1/4 inch foot, sewing thread to match fabric, your sewing machine, a foot, power cord and foot pedal and a marking pen.

Attention all quilters:
Do you have fat quarters that you purchased to go with a project only to find out that they didn’t match?
Do you have fat quarters that you purchased and can’t remember why?
Do you have fat quarters that you purchased and just don’t like any more?
Bring them in Saturday, March 15 at 10:00 am and swap them with other quilters.
