Applique Pillow #1 of 3

Learn to applique on your machine by placing a 3D bear pattern on fabric. Included in the class is the bear pattern. Incorporated in the class is applying cording to the pillow, making button holes and sewing on buttons with your machine.

** Registration required – $30 covers cost of class, supplies are an additional cost

The class has three two hour sessions to complete the project and you must begin with class #1.

Welcome to the 3rd level of machine owners classes –  Embroidery Basics! This class will walk you through a basic stitch out – from beginning to end. Level one (owners basics) completition required. Topics covered include:

Design setup: how to position design on screen, how to choose proper hoop size, how to rotate and resize, how to manipluate stitch order and count, how to delete stop functions in lettering

Please be sure to bring all necessary machine accessories (ie the embroidery unit, power cord, foot pedal, etc) . In addition, you will need the small hoop that comes with your machine, fabric (prefer solid cotton), bobbin thread, stabilizer, 3 -4 colors of embroidery thread, USB stick that comes with your machine, and your thinking cap!

Welcome to serger basics! This class is designed for all skill level machine owners, and is highly recommended for first time serger owners or new serger model owners! You will learn:

– proper threading of your machine (4 thread overcast)

-converting to a 3 thread narrow stitch

-converting to a 3 thread rolled hem

 

We also cover stitch length adjustments, differential feed use, needle replacement, tension adjustments, and basic machine cleaning.

Foot of the Month Quilt – NEW! – Block 1

The finished quilt will be approximately 49″L x 40″W. We use 6 different fabrics.  Each bloc gives specific fabric, notions, feet, accessories and cutting requirements as well as insrtuctions to make each block. We will start with Block 1 of 12.

Block 1 – is using the Three Hole Yarn foot with special stitches.

Bring sewing machine and feet if you already own them or you can try them during class. Also bring scraps of fabric and thread colors to try the technique.

Join the embroidery club, we will be making the evening clutch bag pictured. It is a bag done almost entirely in the hoop. The technique is much like doing an appliqué. After stitching around the entire bag area and attaching the lining to the bag, all of the extra fabric is cut away.
