Applique Pillow #1 of 3

Learn to applique on your machine by placing a 3D bear pattern on fabric. Included in the class is the bear pattern. Incorporated in the class is applying cording to the pillow, making button holes and sewing on buttons with your machine.

** Registration required – $30 covers cost of class, supplies are an additional cost

The class has three two hour sessions to complete the project and you must begin with class #1.

positions. We will also try some of the different feet that you can use with
the coverstitch. No worries though because you no longer Fear the Serger.

In this class we will teach you how to access designs to embroider that are not preloaded on you machine, saving designs to your embroidery machine, and how to send designs from a laptop to your embroidery machine.

Bring Embroidery Machine, power cord and the cord to connect your Embroidery Machine to your laptop , and your manual. Embroidery Arm, Laptop with software installed ( 6D ), mouse, and dongle if your software needs one to run.

Creating Fonts for Embroidering 5/1/14

How to use the fonts from your windows font folder to create new fonts to embroidering.

We will discuss why some fonts work and others do not, what font size range means, what is realistic. Styles covered are Regular, Bold, Italic, and Applique.  Satins verses Fills as well are satin outlines.

Bring a notebook and pen. Laptop if you have 6D embroidery font software installed.

This Eye of the Storm quilt uses the kaleidoscope technique to transform a floral print into something that looks like a churning wind gust, or a happily spinning pinwheel. This free pattern has detailed instructions that show you exactly where to cut your triangles in the pattern repeat. In the end, you piece together big blocks and each octagon has a unique and different design. You will have lots of fun sewing this table topper or wall hanging!  It could even be used as a baby quilt in the right colors.  It finishes at around a 39″ square.

 

Class #1 (May 27)–cutting and piecing the quilt blocks.  Class #2 (June 3)–putting the blocks together.  Class #3 (June 10)–machine quilting.  Class #4 (June 17)–binding, labeling, and finishing the quilt.

Beyond Embroidery Basics is a series to build skills for the novice embroiderer. This month covers the challenge of stabilizing knits. Many consider knit fabrics to be the most difficult to embroider on. We will do two quick designs – one on a t-shirt and one on a sweatshirt.
