6D Software Owner’s Class #3 Editing
Cost: If you purchased your software from a Viking Sewing Gallery, this class is free. If not, there is a charge for the class.
BASIC EDITING and STITCH EDITOR PLUS
This class will show you how to use Stitch Editor to edit and optimize your designs. We will also create a new embroidery by using some of the 2600 designs that are included in the software and will touch on the use of the Split Project Wizard and Design Aligner to split large projects to fit into smaller hoops.
Attendees need to bring a laptop loaded with their programs, a mouse, power cable, dongle, flash drive, note paper, and pen.
This class is for those with the following modules of software. Anyone interested in upgrading their software is welcome to attend and observe the class.

- 6D Premier
- Those who have purchased the additional modules for their software
In order for us to start class on time, please arrive 5-10 minutes before class is to begin to allow you to have time to set up.

For new owner’s of Viking Huskylock or Singer Sergers. Learn to thread and use your serger ‘s 2, 3, and 4 thread features, including Rolled hem. You’ll learn basting, sew a blind hem, how to use the overcast stitch and make a buttonhole. An introduction to SEWING features only. This is a prerequisite to the Embroidery Class – Owner’s Class 3.

Beginning Quilting Saturday, March 28 at 2 pm – Part 1 of 2
Learn the basics of quilting by completing a placemat sized quilt. This is a two part class. In part one, you’ll learn rotary cutting and piecing techniques. In class two (two weeks later) you’ll quilt and bind your small project! You’ll go home with instructions to make more placemats and the basic techniques to make a larger quilt as well!. We’ll use a modern quilting pattern provided by permission of Modern Quilt Designer, Alissa Haight Carlton! A supply list will be sent via email with your registration confirmation. Required: Your Viking or Singer machine, in good sewing condition.
It is recommended that you be familiar with your machine operation before you tackle this class. Call 512-340-0640 for more information. Free Motion Quilting Saturday, March 21, at 10am
Learn the technique of Free Motion Quilting with your Husqvarna Viking or Singer machine from our resident expert, long time quilt-maker, Karen Alexander. Required: A sturdy machine with feed dog drop feature or a feed dog cover. Demonstration and participation. You will know and have practiced the basics by the time we finish the class. See the supply list below. Student will provide thread and sample quilt sandwich, see below for details. Call 512-340-0640 for more information. Please call for day of class availability.
Bring these SUPPLIES which are needed for class:
- Two 18 inch square pieces of 100% cotton muslin or neutral pattern/color quilter’s cotton
- Two 20 inch square pieces of 100% cotton muslin or neutral pattern/color quilter’s cotton
- Two 19 inch square pieces of 100% COTTON quilt batting (Warm N Natural or Pellon are good brands)
- MACHINE quilting thread – be sure you don’t pick up any “HAND” quilting thread! Hand thread is glazed (sometimes labeled glacee).
- We’ll provide machine quilting needles.
- Bring a free motion or darning foot for your machine if you have one, or you can use one of ours.

For new owner’s of Viking Huskylock S21 or S25 sergers. Learn to thread and use your serger ‘s cover hem and chain stitch features! For owners of Huskylock S21, and S25 models ONLY! Bring your serger and it’s cover hem accessories, don’t forget your power cord and controller.
This is a hands on class, NOT a demonstration. If your machine comes with a DVD, you may find it helpful to view the section on Cover Stitch/Cover Hem it before you come to class.

6D/5D Embroidery Software BASICS March 12 at 2PM
For all new owners of Viking Embroidery machines
An introduction to the 6D Embroidery Software Suite. We’ll cover the basics, from the complementary 6D products available for every Husqvarna Viking Designer series machine, to optional 6D Embroidery, 6D Extra, and 6D Premiere. Learn the basics of using your software effectively. We will cover 5D software for those with that discontinued product.
6D Premiere Owners: It is recommended that you attend this class BEFORE attending your first 6D Premier class.

This class is appropriate for ALL NEW Embroidery machine owners, as we cover the 6D Explorer plug in and machine communication – transferring designs to the embroidery machine. You’ll also learn about viewing embroideries on your computer and using QuikFont to create embroidery fonts to use on your Husqvarna Viking Designer series embroidery machine.

Class One — Intro to your Sewing Machine
This class is designed to show you how to operate your new machine purchased at Viking Sewing Gallery. Come in and learn how to sew on different fabrics and use those stitches that came on your machine. Class size limited. Please pre-register by either e-mail or call us at 248-698-3404.
We’ll help you discover how to use the feet and accessories that came with your machine. We will also go over the care and maintenance that can extend the life of your machine.
Please bring: Your sewing machine including power cord and foot pedal, accessories and book, spool of pastel thread and scissors.
Digitize Red Work Embroidery to give it the hand made look!
Come in and lets learn to digitize some outline work you would have to do by hand, until now because of 6D Premier. Take a Aunt Martha transfer and digitize it. You can us your favorite McCall’s baby pattern and give it the look of hand work. All done fast and easy with your software. Get the work done now! You need your laptop with the 6D Premier installed and your dongle. We will provide you a design. Sign up now!
Creative Embroidery Club
Come have some fun with us as we explore different machine embroidery techniques each month.
This month Let’s Go Retro!! We will be making a poncho. You can choose from either a corner design or a neckline design to doll it up.
Class fee $20.00 includes your choice of design. Bring a 36″ x 36″ piece of fleece to class, two pieces if you want it lined/reversible, and your preferred stabilizer.
