In March we will be learning “Special Sewing Techniques” and seeing how to use some of the many specialty feet available for these great machines!

This project has been created to increase your knowledge about design positioning.  We’ll be focusing on the tools that your machine has that will make it easier to place designs or lettering exactly where you want it.  Think of how many different picture mats you can do as gifts!

Owner’s Class 2

Make your first project on your machine! Learn how to use your decorative stitches and review the things you learned in Owner’s Class 1. Please bring white all-purpose thread. After taking Owner’s Class 1, everyone needs to take this class before signing up for any other classes.

This class you will learn how to thread your machine and a bobbin . You will also learn how to toggle through your stitches. Bring your machine and all it’s accessories.

This popular class appears once a month on the first Saturday of each month.  Class size is limited to 6 people.  You will make one 18-inch designer pillow with piping.  You will learn how easy it is to put in an invisible zipper with Viking’s new clear invisible zipper foot–no ironing necessary–the foot does all the work!  Sign up early to receive your supply list.

6D Extra and Premier has a useful program call Express Design Wizard.  This will allow you to take simple clip art and making it into an embroidery.  We’ll be discussing each of the different steps to creating  your own design.

Learn to digitize specific areas of your design, change fill types, create stippling around your design.  This will be taught as a workshop, where we will work together through various exercises and work as a group to complete the work and learn the modules together.

This class is an introduction to your new serger. Learn the basic features of your machine including how to thread, overlock and troubleshoot the stitch. Experiment with different presser feet and techniques such as elastic insertion, gathering and blind hem.  Please bring your machine, accessories, and machine owner’s manual.

Foot of the month Quilt By Marie Duncan

 In block 2, we will piece a chevron background and use our Circular Attachment to create the six petal flower. The final embellishment will be done with the Specialty Candlewicking Foot to add texture and detail.

In class you will learn to use the connectivity module and  6D plug-in  or 5D Organizer. Learn how to manage your design collection, sort and organize designs, print out templates and catalogs of your designs. Also see some basics of lettering in the 6D/5D Embroidery software.

Bring to class:  your laptop with the connectivity CD installed and if you have the 6D/5D Embroidery software, bring your dongle and users guide.  Also bring your memory stick that came with your machine and paper and pen to take notes.
