In class #5 you will learn how to piece hexagons while making the Grandmother’s Flower Garden block. You will also learn how to make your own pattern pieces and applique the “flower” to a background.
Supply List:
- Fat quarter or piece of one dark solid fabric
- Fat quarter or piece of one print fabric
- 1 – 13” square of a light or white solid background fabric
- 1 – 13” square of Tear A-Way stabilizer
- Sewing thread
- Sewing machine with foot control and power cord
- Fabric cutting scissors (*Available in the Viking Sewing Gallery)
- Paper cutting scissors
- Rotary Cutter (*Available in the Viking Sewing Gallery)
- Sewing pins
- Pin cushion or Grabbit
- Transparent cutting ruler (12″ is ideal)
- ¼” grid graph paper
- Mechanical pencil or pencil with sharp lead
- Lightweight cardboard (like a cereal box)
- Glue stick
- Crayons or colored pencils
- Ruler with 60º angle on it OR a protractor
- Plain copy paper—1 or 2 sheets
- Hex N More template (optional but nice to have) (*Available in the Viking Sewing Gallery)
- Basic sewing kit
Preshrink and press fabric before class.
