We will be piecing our first block of this series in this class. It is called the Nine-Patch. You will be learning how to:
- Use a rotary cutter and quilting ruler to cut quilt block pieces accurately.
- Sew a 1/4″ seam allowance perfectly.
- Align seam intersections perfectly.
- Press quilt blocks.
Supply List
- Sewing machine with foot control and power cord
- Scissors
- Rotary cutter
- Transparent cutting ruler (6” X 24” is ideal)
- Sewing pins
- ¼” piecing foot or ¼” piecing foot with guide
- Thread (either all-purpose sewing polyester or 100% cotton)
- 2 or 3 fat quarters of coordinating colors OR cotton scraps large enough to make four 4½” squares of one fabric and five 4½” squares of another fabric—another option is to make the center square of a third fabric. DO NOT CUT THEM OUT BEFORE CLASS!
