** If your serger is capable of doing ChainStitch, bring your extra parts to convert your machine to ChainStitch for quilting the inserts.
4 cones of serger thread to coordinate with your fabric.
1 spool of Decorative thread if you have it and want to use it when Chain Stitch Quilting
Yardage measurements will yield 2 place mats
1 yard of medium weight fabric, for the outside of the placemats. I used a light weight denim.
3/8 yard each of two different cotton print fabrics for the inserts
3/8 yard of warm and natural batting for the inserts
Cutting Instructions:
From the medium weight fabric (mine is the denim):
- Two pieces 19 x 13½ inches
- Four pieces 19 x 5 inches
- Four pieces 13½ x 5 inches
From each cotton print:
- Two pieces 18 x 12 inches
From the batting:
- Two pieces 18 x 12 inches
