Make your very own “custom made” pencil case or make-up unlike anyone else’s in this fun class. You might even want to make several for Christmas gifts for your girlfriends. Some fabric, a zipper, a sewing machine, and some time…and Presto! You have a cut AND useful bag.
This bag can be made in any size. The pencil case that we are making in class will be a finished size of approximately 8” X 3½”. It needs to be made from a fabric that is thick or stiff—like an upholstery fabric or corduroy. If you want to use a cotton fabric (like our sample), you will need to fuse a heavy interfacing onto it and add a lining. When obtaining your supplies, you do NOT need the interfacing and lining if using the heavy fabric.
Supply list
- ¼ yd. outer fabric (see above comment)
- ¼ yd. lining (only if using a light-weight fabric)
- ¼ yd. Pellon TP971F fusible batting interfacing (only if using a light-weight fabric)
- 1/8 yd. ¼” wide ribbon (optional—this is the ribbon in the zipper pull)
- One 9” zipper
- Matching sewing thread
- Basic Sewing Kit
- Sewing machine with all of its accessories, foot control, and power cord—if you do not have a sewing machine, you may use one of our classroom machines. You will need a 15J bobbin to use in our machine. These are available for $.75 in our Viking Sewing Gallery.
