Heirloom Techniques #3

This is a continuation of the Heirloom Techniques classes.  In class #3, you will learn the techniques of free motion gimp application, making and/or using entredeux, lace application, and using the decorative heirloom stitches on your sewing machine that require the wing needle.

 

From the supply list given for class #1, be sure to bring:

Your sewing machine and its accessories
Gimp, #8 Pearl Crown Cotton thread, or #30 crochet thread
Gimp foot with guide
Open Toe foot
Basic sewing kit
flat-edged lace
“Beading” lace
double-eyed needle or blunt tapestry needle
1/8″ wide satin ribbon
Also ribbon the same width as the holes in your beading lace
your fabric (100% cotton, 100% linen, 100% silk, or cotton/linen blend)
wing needle
water soluble stabilizer
Stitch-in-Ditch tear away stabilizer or Tear A-Way Light stabilizer
60 wt. cotton thread and bobbin wound with it
extension table
Ruler
Blunt-tipped sharp scissors
Erasable marking pen or chalk marker that is visible on your fabric
Rotary cutter & ruler

Please arrive a few minutes prior to class to set up so that we can begin on time.   We also ask that you not wear perfumes because of those who have fragrance sensitivity.   If you will not be able to attend class, please let us know in advance.  Thank you.
