Creative Quilting–Patriotic Mug Rug

Make this Mug Rug for your 4th of July celebration.  In this class you will learn:

  • the Flip and Sew method of quilting and piecing as you go.
  • how to bind edges with a mitered corner.

Supply List If you have scraps of fabric, this is a great way to use them up.  If you do, you will need pieces at least as large as listed below.  If not, buy fat quarters.

  • 8” square of fusible fleece or batting (or fleece/batting and temporary spray adhesive)
  • 1 fat quarter white cotton or a scrap at least 12” x 21”
  • 1 fat quarter of red/white/blue star cotton fabric or a scrap at least 7” square
  • 1 fat quarter or a scrap of solid red cotton fabric or a scrap at least 10” x 14”
  • 1 pkg. wide double-fold red bias tape
  • Red all-purpose sewing thread
  • Basic sewing kit
  • Rotary cutter
  • Rotary cutting ruler
  • ¼” piecing foot
  • Sewing machine and its accessories (no embroidery unit)
  • Scissors or thread snips
  • Temporary fabric marking pen

In order for us to start class on time, please arrive 5-10 minutes before class is to begin to allow you to have time to set up.

 

If you find that you will be unable to attend, please let us know well in advance so that we can call a person on our waiting list to take your place.  If there are too few to sign up, we reserve the right to cancel the class.   Also, please be kind to those with fragrance sensitivity by not wearing colognes and perfumes.  Thank you.
